How To Rank A Local Business On The First Page Of Google

This infographic outlines the steps needed to be applied to a local business website for it to rank on the first page of Google. The infographic and summary in this post has been created by Stealth SEO Solutions an expert SEO agency that provides SEO for businesses around the world.

Traffic to a business website will dramatically increase when that business website appears on the 1st page of Google. This will result in numerous leads as well as an increased opportunity and chance of attracting new customers. However, to obtain these results, it is not just going to happen. You have to apply some magic to make it happen.

The infographic above outlines the steps / action you will need to take to make this magic happen. The steps are also detailed below: –

Step 1: Keyword Research

Choosing the keywords for which you want to position yourself is one of the key points to rank Google. There are many paid and free tools like Semrush, KW Finder or Ubbersuggest that can help you find the best ones for your business.

These tools usually give at least two indicators: the volume of searches for the keyword and the difficulty of ranking with it (which will largely depend on the competition). Although higher search volume usually means more traffic, generally there is also more competition, which means it is going to be much harder to get a slice of that traffic. As a result, it is better to opt for keywords with a slightly lower search volume, but with less difficulty.

Step 2: Optimize your website

Include tags and meta tags, improve the structure so that the search engine has it easier to find your web page, create a good sitemap, work on the content, draw up an internal link strategy and reduce loading time.

Also, optimize your site for speed. This means getting it to load quickly especially on mobile devices. There are tools that can help you with this, or if you want to outsource this process, you can contact a reputable SEO specialist.

Step 3: Make sure you have a good NAP consistency

If your business has a local vocation, you cannot ignore NAP consistency. The acronym NAP (Name, Address, Phone) refers to three basic data of any company: name, address and telephone. If these do not appear in the same way as on your website and on Google Business Profile, it will confuse Google and you will lose position in the ranking. It is therefore, important to make sure that there are no errors on other websites that are displaying your data, such as social networks, directories, etc.

Step 4: Get traffic and authority

Use newsletters and social networks to send traffic to your website. This will give you more authority and speed up the process of indexing new content, since the search engine will detect it more quickly. Getting incoming links that point to your website (link building) will also help you climb positions in the Google ranking. Link building is the process where other sites link to your site from their site. This passes on authority to your site and the authority enables your site to gain rank on Google.

Step 5: Be patient

Positioning a web page on Google requires time. If you decide to do it yourself, you will have to carry out many different actions and face the inevitable trial and error method. If you hire a professional service, you will save a lot of time, and above all, a lot of work, but you must bear in mind that the results will never be immediate, because Google typically and deliberately takes time to allow the changes to affect the rank increase.
